VoIP Basics

VoIP

For those of us who grew up with phones that had rotary dials, the world of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone service is new territory. But, just as we adapted to touch tone phones, then speed dial, cell phones, Bluetooth and text messaging, so can we easily incorporate VoIP into our daily business environment.

While VoIP may seem a bit futuristic, you probably don't realize that currently close to 70% of your "land line" calls go through a digital phase at some point before arriving at their destination. So really, you have already been using VoIP to some extent, but now it's time to take advantage of everything VoIP with a virtual phone system has to offer:

  • low cost bundled services
  • better user experience
  • feature-rich without capital expenditure
  • future-proof architecture
  • geographic independence
  • unparalleled scalability
  • moves, adds and changes
  • future-ready platform (video)
  • better value for the money
  • 24/7 Customer Care access

Hardware

Polycom Soundpoint

Your VoIP phone hardware becomes an integral part of the way you do business. That's why we use, recommend, sell, and support products by some of the world's largest and most reputable business SIP phone suppliers.

From SIP phones to ATAs or IADs, using gateways or softphones, whatever your needs, there's a reliable, cost-effective and "future-proof" system here for you!

Soft Phones

A softphone is actually a software application used for making calls over the Internet, rather than using dedicated hardware. Designed to behave like a traditional telephone, softphones appear on your computer monitor as an image of a phone, with interactive display panels and buttons. You connect using a headset, or using a hands-free speakerphone device like the Polycom Communicator.

Vinculum offers two softphone applications using CounterPath Solutions, each with unique features, and both allowing Video over IP. Our experienced Customer Care team can work with you to determine which of these models is right for you, and to ensure that you have the proper equipment and configuration.
